Mom's Out, Treatments In: When the Doc Says 'Buh-Bye

June 14, 2024.

We're up and at 'em! Dylan and I started the day bright and early, with vitals looking good and another pound gained (woo-hoo!). Our breakfast ritual continued, with oatmeal and OJ taking center stage (no surprises there!).
Off we went to the medical yurt at 8:00 am, where Dylan received his IV treatment of curcumin, quercetin, and mistletoe. Afterward, we headed back to our room for some downtime. However, Dylan was hesitant to return for more treatments, concerns about his port and being extra cautious.

Brian went and chatted with the doctor, who told us to come back at 10:30 am. But, in a surprising twist, the doctor kicked us out, taking matters into his own hands! Dylan didn't emerge from the medical yurt, which meant he got in the hyperbaric oxygen chamber. Brian sent me back to the yurt to leave my phone so Dylan would have wifi. The doctor sent me packing and turned me around at the door with phone still in hand.

With some free time on our hands, we drove over to Tlaquepaque Village, strolling around and enjoying the scenery. We even locked in our love with a love lock and picked up an abundance cross.

When we returned to the retreat, Dylan was busy on his computer. We grabbed lunch, which, you guessed it, consisted of soup, potato, vegetable, and salad. After lunch, I took off to have a lunch date with Ethan and to work out. Belle kept me company while I waited for Ethan to get ready.

The adventure continued when our Jeep ran out of gas in 97 degree heat on the 7% grade climb back to Sedona. While the gas gauge showed low, it didn't show empty. With spotty internet and only three tow trucks in the area, we were in a pickle! Brian had to make some calls, while I managed to get an Uber with Larry, a retired vet and truck driver, who regaled me with his life story (because you know I got his life story out of him in the 10 min drive). We finally made it back to the retreat, and Ethan and I hung out with Dylan in the nice air conditioned room. Meanwhile, one of the retreat staff drove Brian to get a gas can and fill 'er up. I left the keys in the Jeep because I figured the likelihood of someone stealing the Jeep were super low (they would have had to have spare gas) and if they did, I have insurance.

When Brian got back, Ethan and I headed out to Hideaway House for some delicious Italian food and an amazing view. We played Pass the Pigs (Ethan won 4-3) and had a nice conversation. I indulged in the 1/2 Roasted Peach and 1/2 Green Goddess Pizza, which, unfortunately, didn't agree with my stomach and Ethan has spaghetti and meatballs.

When we returned to the room, Ethan and Brian took off. Dylan was already snoozing. I spent the evening watching a movie about the Gerson Therapy with some of the lovely ladies from the retreat who are undergoing similar treatments.

That's our day of IVs, adventures, and a side of excitement!
