Today was a mixed bag for Dylan. We were both up at 1:30 am, me with gas pains and Dylan with body aches. We took some medication, Dylan 1/2 a gummy and me some peppermint pellets and it seemed to work, as we both fell back asleep.
When Dylan woke up, his temperature was 99.3, and he was feeling sluggish. We did his vitals, which were unremarkable, and then had breakfast. However, Dylan didn't have much of an appetite and only ate half of his oatmeal and none of his orange juice.
After breakfast, Dylan seemed really upset and stressed. He just wanted to go home, which is understandable. We had a good talk, and I tried to reassure him that he's strong and can get through this. Eventually, we made our way to the medical yurt. When we got there, another patient was talking about how jealous she was of Dylan having temperatures and wishes that would happen to her. Eventually, the doctor talked with Dylan and calmed him down even more. The doctor examined Dylan's port and took the needle out which was really painful as something had crusted around the needle and there was some bruising, but everything looked good.
Next, Dylan spent an hour in the hyperbaric oxygen chamber, which seemed to help him relax. After that, he had heat therapy, which he tolerated for about 45 minutes before feeling short of breath and anxious. The doctor had some great tips for managing his anxiety and fears.
We made our way back to the room where we had lunch. Dylan didn't eat very much, nor was he drinking the majority of his juices. At about 2:00pm, he went back down and did the beamer for 20 min. When he came back, Brian was showing him some research on the various treatments and then Dylan took a shower.
I headed to the RV to pick up Ethan. When I got there, I took Belle for a walk. She just wanted in the Jeep so she could see Dylan. She pulled me along, and I struggled to control her. At one point, she yanked me into a patch of thistles, and I ended up sliding and getting three thistles stuck in my foot, which started bleeding. Ouch! When we finally made it back to the RV, I had to wash my feet off in the shower. But when I came out, I was greeted by a new mess: Belle had thrown up all over the floor and one of the couch pillows. Joy. I got to clean that up.
Ethan finally got dressed, and we were off. His first question? "Do we have gas?" LOL.
When we got back to the wellness retreat, Dylan's temperature had risen to 101, so he stayed with Brian while I took Ethan to get something to eat and took a bit of a drive to see some of the stunning scenery. Brian later went to Walmart to get Dylan a body pillow to help with his discomfort. As the day came to a close, Dylan was still feeling unwell, but we're hoping for a better tomorrow.
